Mexico Rocks is a stunning shallow patch reef complex off the northern tip of Ambergris Caye, part of the Belize Barrier Reef. The site consists of approximately 100 Holocene patch reefs clustered on a Pleistocene ridge of limestone, composed predominantly of boulder star corals. The reef has accumulated at just 2.5 to 5 meters deep under static sea level conditions over the last 420 years, although it was just approved to be part of the Hol Chan Marine Reserve in 2015. This site is an eco-tourism gem perfect for snorkelers and SCUBA divers of all levels.
