Hotel Policies
Check-In & Check-Out
Check-in time is 3:00pm daily, and check-out is at 11:00am. In the event of a flight delay or cancellation, please reach out to us promptly via Whatsapp at +501 611-4854 or email reservations@thewatermarkbelize.com, so we can accommodate your new arrival time.
Risks & Alcohol
Engaging in certain guest activities, such as SCUBA diving, spearfishing, and paddleboarding, carries the potential for minor to severe injuries. These risks are inherent in the activity and acknowledged by each guest. The consumption of alcohol significantly increases these risks, and management reserves the right to limit activities at its discretion. The legal drinking age in Belize is 18. All guests, whether booked individually or as a group, will receive a copy of our travel waiver.
Room Damages & Smoking
Damage to rooms, fixtures, furnishing, and equipment, including the removal of electronic equipment, towels, artwork, etc., will be charged at replacement value. Any damage to hotel property, whether accidental or willful, is the responsibility of the registered guest for each particular room. Any costs associated with repairs and/or replacements will be charged to the registered guest’s credit card. Please note this is a non-smoking hotel. A cleaning fee of $500.00 USD will be charged if violated.
Cancellation Policy
Standard reservations may be canceled or modified without penalty up to 31 days before arrival (**excluding holiday dates). **Holiday stays with arrival dates between 12/18/2022 - 1/3/2023 and 12/18/2023 - 1/3/2024 may be canceled or modified without penalty up to 91 days before arrival. Reservation is subject to cancellation and full payment is forfeited if payment is not made in full 14 days prior to arrival date Any reservation canceled or modified within the penalty window will forfeit 100% of payment. No refunds will be made if canceled during the stay. In case of inclement weather, reservations can be rebooked within a 12-month window without any refunds, exclusions may apply for rebooking during holiday dates.
Pet Policy
At The Watermark Belize Hotel, we prioritize the comfort and safety of all guests. Pets are not allowed on the property to maintain a relaxing environment.
Parking
Free golf cart parking is available for guests in front of The Watermark Belize Hotel. For your convenience, we also offer on-site golf cart rentals.
Traveling To Belize
Do I need a passport to travel to Belize?
All visitors are required to have a valid passport that does not expire within 90 days of arrival, along with a return airline ticket. Visas are not currently required for travelers from the U.S., European Community, or British Commonwealth for stays less than 30 days.
Do I need travel insurance?
Though not mandatory for Belize visits, it is highly recommended. If you would like travel insurance coverage, The Watermark Belize Hotel offers plans through Generali Global Assistance.
Do I need to bring an adaptor?
Belize uses 110 volt, 60-cycle hertz, so guests from the United States won’t need a converter or adaptor.
Is it customary to tip the staff?
All rates and any activity include a service charge. Tipping is customary in Belize, and 10-15% is standard. As always, tipping is at your discretion.
What is the currency in Belize?
The official currency for Belize is the Belize Dollar. The exchange rate is approximately BZ$2 to US$1, and travelers can exchange currency at banks and hotels. Most businesses accept US Dollars and Credit Cards (American Express, Discovery, Master, and Visa Cards).
What is the time-zone and language of Belize?
The time zone is the same as US Central Standard Time. Belize does not observe daylight savings time. English is the official language, but almost half the population speaks Spanish. Garifuna (Carib), Maya, and Creole are also spoken as well as a German dialect (by the Mennonites).
What if I’m traveling as a single parent or bringing a child’s friend along?
Ensuring the safety of your children is a top priority while traveling. It's advisable to anticipate inquiries from the airline regarding the child or children accompanying you. All travelers, including minors, need a valid passport. For personalized guidance, contact your airline directly to discuss your specific situation and document needs.
- If a child travels with only one parent, expect requests for additional documentation. This includes a notarized letter and the child's birth certificate, along with relevant legal papers (custody, adoption, death certificates).
- If the child's last name differs from either accompanying adult, it's essential to have their birth certificate. This applies to various family structures, such as same-sex couples or guardians. Additional documentation like adoption papers or donor insemination records may be needed.
- If you're not a parent listed on the child's birth certificate, ensure you have a notarized letter from both listed parents authorizing travel, along with the child's birth certificate.

How do I get to The Watermark Belize Hotel?
After arriving at Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport in Belize City, take a quick commuter flight to Ambergris Caye and a taxi ride to the hotel. We can arrange hassle-free local transportation for you. The round-trip commuter flight is $200 per person, added to your reservation. What is the best form of transportation around Ambergris Caye?
The preferred mode of transportation on Ambergris Caye is golf cart, and The Watermark Belize Hotel provides on-site rentals for guests to explore the island at their own pace. Is there cellular service in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye?
Cell phones work in Ambergris Caye if you have activated international service with your provider. Contact your cellular provider before your departure for information on services available within Belize. Wi-Fi is available at The Watermark Belize Hotel.
What if I forgot something?
The Watermark Belize Hotel offers on-site restaurants and is near San Pedro grocery stores with the necessities. The Sand Boutique within the hotel also has clothing for women, men, and children. The team will assist in helping you find anything you need!
Food & Drinks
Does The Watermark offer meal plans?
Yes! Guests can enhance their dining experience with meal plans at the Skyview Rooftop Lounge. Prices are $100/adult and $75/child. Breakfast add-ons are available for $25/adult and $15/child. Please note that certain menu items are not included in the meal plan.
Are the Skyview Rooftop Lounge & Gusto’s open to the public?
Yes. Both restaurants at The Watermark Belize Hotel are open to the public. The Skyview Rooftop Lounge is currently open for breakfast from 7:00 am to 11:00 am and lunch and dinner from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, with the bar open until 10:00 pm. Gusto’s will be opening soon for lunch and dinner from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, with the bar extending service until midnight.
Can the restaurants accommodate my dietary restrictions?

Is there room service available?
Yes! Room service is available from the Skyview Rooftop Lounge. Guests can enjoy the convenience of having delicious meals delivered directly to your room.

Is the rooftop pool open to the public?
The rooftop pool is an amenity reserved exclusively for hotel guests. However, the Skyview Rooftop Lounge is on the same floor and is open to the public, offering the same stunning Belize Barrier Reef views.
Is there a spa or gym at the hotel?
Certainly! Indulge in relaxation at our spa, offering massages, body and facial treatments, and nail services. En suite treatments are available, though specific services may be limited based on room configurations. Additionally, a fitness center with workout facilities is on the horizon, though it is currently undergoing preparations for an enhanced experience.
Does the hotel have beachfront access?
While The Watermark Belize Hotel doesn't have direct beachfront access, it's just a short 5-10 minute walk to local beaches, bars, and restaurants. Enjoy the vibrant island scene nearby, and return to peaceful surroundings. The Skyview Rooftop Lounge offers incredible Belize Barrier Reef views, adding to your overall experience.
